Square Ground???

OK guys, if I decide to give square grind a shot what am I looking at for a grinder and what kind is best?

Hi Rich, I have the Silvey Razor sharp, but the Silvey swing arm is better. It's about 500 U.S. at Madsens.

Edit: Oh I only hear good things about Silvey, so I would recomend them.

Probably, but wthat the heck...

Silvey, unless you want to learn how to file it by hand.

For a part timer, I would say get a short length of chain and practice.

Though IMO from what you say you do, full chisle is more then sufficient on a big saw.

Square is too finniky if you're not perfect.

Then you gotta do the gullet every few sharpenings.

First off, sorry I meant to put this on the chainsaw forum. JPS, if you wouldn't mind please move this. I only want to try square ground on my PP7900. Another forum member was kind enough to grind me several to get me started. I'm just trying to see how much more perfomance I can get from the PP7900.

good move.. i get the round file sharpening dn,, an now i send my chain off tobe sharpened.. its just faster..
one thing i dont see is the tendency to get dull faster,, that i was expectin. holds edge as well as round to me.jmo
