The full version is " " and it's an HTML entity for "no-break space" or "non-breaking space".  HTML breaks (wraps) lines at white space characters (space, tab, line-feed/carriage-return) and compresses multiple instances of them to just one space when formatting the text for presentation.  So even if I put two spaces after a period while typing this response, it'll display with only one space.  I dislike that, so use the entity as one of them to enable the double spaces in the displayed result.

I've heard that kids here are getting into trouble with air time doing so much text messaging and ring-toning.  Evidently they thought it would be free but it's not.

Cell phones annoy me. I can sit for five minutes watching people come out of class, and probably 1/3 to 1/2 will be on cell phones. The bulk of the conversations are something to the effect of "Sup!" "What's ya dooin?" or, "Nothing, no,,,.... no,, yup.... no." They sure as heck don't improve communication.

thats funny mule, and also correct.my most hated text message is wot doin.to keep the thread on track ill still say the 46

Jonsered and Husky are pretty much the same product, and I have had good luck with them. Stihl has some good models as well, and for the most part I have heard good thing about the Dolmars.

Dave not to argue with Aussie, but I spent last weekend in my fathers woods dropping a large cherry tree with his MS460 Magnum. Yes, TONS of power, I loved using it, but after dropping tree and bucking, spending an hour topping and limbing and cutting small stuff into firewood size I was wishing I had a smaller saw as that thing can get heavy for the small stuff, even with the 20" bar it had on it. Great saw, but a little on heavy side in this mans humble opinion for and ALL AROUND saw.

Dave

Thanks for the advice guys. There plently of Stihl and Husky dealers around here aswell. I don't know about Makitas. Will have to investergate.

rb_in_va i have asked the local tree guys who i work with already, thats what my original post is about and i did mention in it that i had asked them. Its the conversation with them that sprung the questions to mind that i posted here. The people i work with don't use Stihl or Huskys most of the time. They use komatsu zenoah chainsaws.Which they think are very good but there out of my price range. The komatsu my boss uses is a G500AVS.My work mate uses a G621AVS.The G621AVS cost £600 brand new.A Husquarna 365 a comparable saw cost £432.The only Husky saw were using at the moment is a 288XP.

Dave,
I didn't know you worked with tree guys. I guess I assumed anyone that would recommend a Poulan for professional use was not a professional. That's what I get for assuming, right?

Nobody recommended a Poulan that was my assumption. When my boss and work mate talked about a pale green saw, they said it might have been a Pioneer. My boss said it was made in Canada. The only pale green saw i could find was a Poulan. But thanks to this thread,i found out that Pioneer did indeed make a pale green saw aswell.

Thanks for the advice guys keep it coming. I like the look of Jonsered chainsaws and Makitas. I just checked the Jonsered UK website. Theres 5 dealers in my area for Jonsereds. I can't find the Makita website with chainsaws on?

Dolmar is Makita. Check the Dolmar site...

My 2 pennies - stay away from any Poulan like those now sold in the USA. I'm into Stihl myself, but buy whatever pro-saw you can easily get dealer support in on your area.

p.s. Don't let the "grammar discussion" mislead you into thinking that everyone that cuts wood for a living in the USA, has a University degree, or two... Most guys I know can't even type, and profanity seems to be their native tongue (me included) :)

Well i've got my first chainsaw :) It's smaller than what i wanted but i can't complain.I got it for free as a none runner.

The chainsaw i've got is a Partner 500.Within a couple of hours i got it running. When i got it home though the chain brake wasn't working. So thats what got my first attention. Took the top case off then the side case. For some reason if you didn't take the top case off the side case wouldn't come off. You should have been there! I don't think i've seen so much mess in a chain brake in all my life. It was jam packed with crud. No problem scraped it all out. Got it working. Still could do with a little improvement. Then i checked the spark plug thats was fine. Put some fuel in her and after alot of pulls she rumbled into life. Shes been stoud for a very long time i didn't expect it to be this easy. After the first start she now starts in very few pulls.

The real test will come when i test her out on some wood.

Power to weight

I can strongly recommend the Husky 365 - I love mine!

The 365, 362xp and 357xp are no doubt very good midsized saws, but according to DLG/KWF-test and other sourses they all weight more than advertised, the 357xp substantially more.

In the real world the Stihl MS 361 weights less, and at least the european version equals or surpasses them in performance, according to the same tests. :)
