I got one here with 2 little extra pieces of metal rivitted to the spring.

What's up with that? SXL925 and they're in the way from what I can see. But they came out of there!?

Am I having a senior moment?

I think what you mean is the metal wrapper that holds the spring in its shape until you install it...Bob

Try putting a hand wrapped spring into the saw. Its kinda hard to hold everything in place. I just rewrapped my Echo CS-1001VL without the band. I had to use fishing line to hold it in place, then cut it loose when assembeled...Bob

I connect the spring to the housing and lay the rest of it flat above it on an album cover. I push the center of the spool through the center to engage the spring and then begin to twist clockwise. I get the rope round around the spool but for 6" and then I slide the album cover out maintaining position with the spool/spring. But these extra pieces of metal are ruining my gig here. Off they go.

Thank you.
