Okay, I said that because of the way you stated the problem and I spent the morning watching a crew chip up some brush on a 200 acre site that has about 3,000 trees damaged from a windstorm. They were not going to climb with just the two ropes they had on the truck, a 5/8 and a 1/2 about 120' each. I was out there to see how much of a challange it would be to climb some of the trees. A lot of them you can't get near with crane or bucket truck.
I buy my rope on the coil and have blocks set up for 35', 50', 100'.If you know about how much rope you use each year you learn to splice and buy it by the coil, that way you always have new rope if you lose one.
What threw me was you could get ten more feet out of a four line block set up by tying another rope to the end of the rope on the block and run it up to the knot but you didn't say that you had another rope to try that. It will work in a pinch to get that extra few feet you need. CMI blocks are big enough on the top to slip a knot threw and get more than ten feet.
