I need a coil for my ms362 sthil saw. I can find tem listed for a ms 361 sthil. Does anyone know if they are the same?

Hi marksaw

The MS 361 and MS 362 don`t use the same ignition modules. There are different versions availible for the MS 362, depending on the exact version of the saw.

Thanks, the dealer wants 90 dollars for a new one. was hoping for something more affordable.

Looking for ms362 coil does anyone else have one for sale? What are the differences in the coils 362vs362? The used parts saw I bought and rebuilding was sent with the 1300 but Manuel called for, from what I see is the 1302 and I have no spark.

1302 is the updated version of the 1300...

Did you disconnect the ground wire from the master control lever? Have you swapped a new lead onto the coil? Coils do go bad, but they are pretty reliable for the most part.

I did disconnect the ground but haven't got a new lead as of yet to try it. I know they usually do not go bad but this is a parts saw that I should have never bought lol lessons learned. I don't know how old this coil is. But I'm gonna try new lead when I can. Just looking for one in case I do need a new one. I've tied up a ton of money in this saw but it should last a long time because it's practically new now!

I'm staring at a ms362 with no spark. My sparkplug shows 8.8 kOhms, but I changed it out for a different sparkplug with less resistance, and still no spark. What are the resistance values for this ignition module? Any other useful troubleshooting info is appreciated.
