Hi, I have a 20 yr old 009 that's been sitting for the past five years. I installed a carb kit and when the saw is running it's fine but when I shut it down gas puddles above the throttle plate. I didn't pay attention when I installed the needle valve assy and am wondering if I have the linkage upside down? Does the dimple on the linkage goes up or down? I tried both ways and it doesn't seem to help. Thanks

The dimple goes down to lock the spring in place.. The metal disk on the metering diaphram mounts towards the carb. Do you have your gaskets/diaphragms in the correct order?

I installed everything correctly. I had the gasket installed after the diaphram. But now it only starts if I spray carb cleaner in the throttle and then it dies immediately. Hmmmm, any suggeston?

Stihl 009 Excessive Oil Pump

Well, I finally got the carb working and it's now running fine. The other problem I have is the oil pump. It wasn't pumping any oil so I replaced the diaphram and now it's pumping great but when I shut the saw off oil runs out of the outlet port and puddles under the chassis. I'm not sure how to check the pump. In one direction it hold approx 20 inches of vacuum and the other direction seems to go straight through. Suggestions would be appreciated.
