Vise Grips !!

Nope, I have been to DeWitt as well, a month before they got bought out.

I too have some rare vise grips, Ill post them up tomorrow.

Glad to see the pics and help out with the 011.

I also did a sculpture for vise grip back in the studio days, Ill see if I can find those pics to.

We sell vise grip @ my work, and the quality is sure not what it used to be............

Thanks again

You are most certainly welcome.........not a lot of folks can appreciate my enthusiasm(when they were USA made) for the Vise Grip legacy. Heck being a Nebraska resident you might even live close by DeWitt and been going thru that town most of your life!????

A few questions for you;

1.Had you been there before the old original blacksmith/manufacturing building was demo'ed??

2.Did you ever make it out to the cemetery??

3. Did you know the original Vise Grip was a cast tool?? Sure makes a good hammer substitute with it's mass.........vs. the newer stamped units.

It was quite the interesting trip.......we called it the "Pilgrimage to the Mecca" tour. We drove around town and spotted the original shop, drove around some more to find the cemetery and then took a very cool guided tour thru the manufacturing plant. I've ended up collecting some interesting manufacturing designs where a Vise Grip is utilized as part of the overall tool concept......along with all the "regular" models Peterson made.

By chance was the sculpture you did for Peterson Manufacturing on display in their main lobby?? I seem to remember seeing something very cool along the sculpture line when we showed up there.........of course seeing all the massive stamping and forging equipment in action kinda erased the lobby memories. I'd love to see what you made for them!!!
