When were these saws produced and how does one get to the air filter?

Can't answer the first part. Air filter is under the plate that has the choke control on it, right on top just behind the front handle. This saw takes air in UNDER the air filter, to check it you have to take it out and look at the bottom. BTW, other saws breathe the same way, Jonsered 49SP for example.

Glens, I was goin to post that same link but it's not exactly the right answer to the age question. The 011 existed before they put a brake on it. The AVEQ stands for AntiVibration Electronic(ignition) Quickstop (chainbrake.
