Hi, Folks!! I'm gearing up to do a carb job on an old Stihl 015av. Nice little machine with good compression. The case, though, is a bit of a mystery. I have found all of the screw that allow the starter case to come off, and it is indeed very loose now that I have removed those screws. However, the case still is being held on by something and it just doesn't feel like starter pawls. I'm a little reluctant to just give it a big old yank. Does anyone know if there is something other than the screws that attach the starter case to the block? Thanks!!

theres one screw hidden under the air filter cover and filter. i just put my FS150 brush cutter back together (thats 015 motor with FS150 badges on it)
once i got that off, pulled the plug out, pull the choke lever off, the cover slid right off

I mean, now that I've gotten the screws, the cover comes off about 3/4 of an inch and then hangs up.... it's downright floppy. AND the obstruction feels rubbery.... where do the impulse and fuel lines run on this thing?

Yeah I think the throttle link is the one, not the choke previously mentioned as this saw uses a slide bar choke with no link. Remove the top "grip" off the right handle and remove the link from the trigger and then lift the link to clear filter box. Filter cover has to be off as well to lift the link.

The case is attached to the handle via an anti-vibe mount. Take out the rear anti-vibe mount screw, and it will come apart. The top handle and the throttle linkage can stay with the rest of the saw. The wrap handle has to be removed of course.
