Just bought a used 015 Stihl. Looks real good, started up no problem and runs great. Does this model have any major defects or problems anyone has experienced? ( I know... should have asked this first before I bought it)

It does have one problem, the 015 has been out of production for well over twenty some odd years and new parts are rare to non exisistent.

If you have a good looking one that runs good I would put it on a shelf some where and just keep it and not work it, that is what I did with the two I have one is the top handle, the other a rear handle, oh forgot the third one I have has the hedge trimmer blade instead of a bar and chain.

AVP?? never heard of that for an 015.

I never heard of the AVP either, however, the book it came with lists it as an 015AVP. I am not sure I can let it sit, it runs as good as my new ones. It is in soooooooo good shape. What I think happened to this saw is a private owner had it, ran it once in a while, but no abuse.
You are probably right and it may go on the shelf.

The P in AVP stands for professional. Professional means that the saw is a rear handle model. I am a fan of the 015, my dad had 3 at one time and they were good running suckers. I wouldn't mind finding one for myself to play around with.

Thank you for the info on the 015. I completed a job in a large town and was going home when I saw a thrift store with it in the window. I stopped to see it and that was all it took. The price was great too.
