Say guys, I obtained a cylinder and piston kit for my old 024 that stuck once and sort of smokes now and lacks power.

The cylinder didn't come with the studs on top to hold the cover down, etc. I'm not about to try using the old ones so I'm wondering if anybody has ever tried this in lieu of new ones from the dealer:

Get a couple of correct metric screws from the hardware store, screw them in tight (w/Loctite) and then cut them off to the proper length and clean up the cut end with a file.

Presto: Instant stud.

Comments why this wouldn't be an okay fix?

Thanks!

Say, that's an even better idea! No wonder we like it in here.

Thanks JimL!
