Sorry not sure, I never measured it. It wasn't too old. I bought it sometime in February/march of 2013.

Good points on the Hyway piston. I ended up getting another meteor last night from you guys (one of 3 separate orders in 1 week, sorry for that haha). The fact that they come with caber rings was the difference this time. Now I just have to clean up that cylinder.
I used my 036 today. Put 3 tanks through ripping pine and taking down buckthorn. After switching over to a stock 034 or 036 w/ Meteor, I notice no difference. For the price, it's great.
This AM kit allowed me to resurrect an 034 carcass that was rotting in a barn without breaking my budget. Now it is back to cutting wood and it'll do just that until the bearings fail or some other death comes for it.

I tried the Hyway 026 BB, even with caber rings the compression was poor @ 120 lbs. It ran like a dog. I cleaned up the original 44mm Mahle and put it back on and it generated 160psi and rips in comparison.

Compression on this kit isn't real high. It was 140 or so I don't remember. The plating was very thick and covered the entire inside of the cylinder for the most part. Wasn't the easiest to work with for sure.

Just stopping in to apologize for the delay on the ported video. I'm going to have to take another one in the morning.

did you measure squish?

For those that don't know squish is the distance between the top of the piston and the inside top of the cylinder. Some AM cylinders have a tendency to have a big squish band and have lower compression due to that. Also people don't realize that decomp valves will leak and drop compression to. I prefer to install a decomp plug instead of the valves on anything below 80-85cc. Unless you have bad shoulders or wrists you don't need a decomp on 40-80cc saws. Also keep in mind that compression will go up after break in and the cheaper (non-caber) rings will show a greater gain once broken in.

Keep in mind people, you're choosing between $225 for a OEM top to a $100ish AM kit. Porting AM kits will vastly improve AM P&C kit performance to meet or exceed OEM but you get what you pay for. If the casting of the P&C is good quality and runs the saw "pretty good" and has good review as far as durability... It's probably worth it to the adverage joe to spend a lot less and lose a little performance.

My only real complaint with this kit is it's not got amazing throttle response out of the gate. It's something that I take for granted running other saws. For the firewood guys it's not a big deal. The plating was very thick so longevity shouldn't be an issue. Overall I feel it fits the bill for a guy needing to rebuild a saw. I'd like to see another one before I give it too much of a label. I still believe that it's good quality. Performance could be a little better but so could OEM prices.

You also get a warranty that does not come with OEM..... how much is that worth?

Every dime my friend. You can't beat good customer service with a quality price. I've never been disappointed with any product or service from Weedeaterman.com and that's why I use and recommend you guys any time quality at a manageable price come up.

If you had seen the way I have wasted money in my past, you would understand how she is really cool with this sickness.
Me thinks you can come help me with firewood cutting since you're only feeding one fire place!

As for the timing debate... A wt194 or something with a little bigger venturi would probably help. So would some 18" hardwood for the test cuts to sort out the hackers from the non.

Some things are on a "need to know basis"...... and she don't need to know!

Ole' lady found a substantial receipt for "accessories" from a local OPE shop with the taxes. You'd have thought it was for a hotel room and prophylactics from her line of questioning. After 'splaining it I tossed a few more logs in the fire.

I used the timer on the vid and got 40%. I rechecked those numbers with a stopwatch and and only used the down-cuts- same results.

No big deal. That chain didn't give the stock or ported saw a good showing.
