Hello I am wondering if someone can help me fix my stihl ms 026 and ms 180c it seems as the master control lever will not move too kill position. I do not want to force the the lever to move to kill position. However the saws do run and I am too cheap to bring to local stihl dealer to fix this problem. The problem is a follows both saws run good but either one of them will go into kill position.
Someone please help.

ridefreshies, I would first suggest you post this in the chainsaw forum. You will get better results there. I am no expert but I do know that the 026's have a very frail and thin on/off switch. When I banged mine off a tree once, it was damaged and now it will not fully choke unless I hold it down to full choke position while I pull on it. For you problem, the cheap solution is just to choke it when it is running and you want to kill it. I would suggest, though, if you cut a lot and don't know a stihl guru buddy, just take it in and have them replace the switch. The part is cheap and it will be worth it to avoid the headaches. If you are a mechanical guy, it really is not hard to replace it yourself.

Thanks for your post. You are right about about being cheap cause I dont want to pay the 60 to stihl tech to fix. For now I just push the choke lever all the way down for now it seems to work.

Take off the air filter cover and take a look at what is going on in there - the switch is a pretty straight forward mechanism

Here's the illustrated parts list of what it should look like and you can get part numbers for replacement parts if something is damaged and install it yourself.

Good luck!
