OK, I have a question for you stihl guys that is out of my area.
I have a neighbor that is wanting to sale a stihl 028 super that belonged to her late husband. All I know is, it’s around 3 -6 years old. It doesn’t appear to have been used much and the only thing it has on it is, 028 SUPER There are some other labels with serial numbers and such but I didn’t think to get those.
The compression seemed to be fine and she said a guy had it running a few days ago. Assuming it runs good and checks out good, what would it be worth? I don’t want to cheat her but I don’t want to pay more than it’s worth. I really don’t need it.

Thanks Tom

I went and looked at it a lil while ago. BUT at the time she was only wondering what it was worth. I was thinking around $150.00 from what I could see and by the way it felt pulling the engine over. I couldnt get it to fire off and i didnt have time to mess with it today. The saw looks great and the bar still has half the paint on it. I think it will run with just a plug put in it. Maybe tomorrow i'll go have another look when I have a little more time. I just had no clue what to offer if I got it to run and liked what i saw.
At least now I have a ball park price as to what it is worth. Thanks for your input
Tom

I bought one on E-bay that was about 15 years old (I'm guessing) for $120. Chain and bar were good, compression ~150#'s. Needed some minor work. Modded the muffler, changed a few parts. For about $225 I have a pretty nice saw.
