Well, I finally got my freebie 030av, taken apart, cleaned up, and put back together. What a mess - oiled sawdust, 1/2" thick, everywhere!!! Well she was running before I started-so I figured this would be a good 1st rebuild learner - wasn't too bad. Anyways, the old hardnose bar is bent and I want to replace it, looks like it was a 3/8 - .050. My problem is I don't know what mounting pattern/size it is. Please help? Also, and I don't want to start the oil mix ratio debate again. MIKE ACRES site and original manual says 40-1, should I or can I use good 50-1 mix. If I need 40-1 that would be the 4th different can of fuel I would be carrying around. Please your best advise.

Homelite SXL-AO 16-1
Small Poulans and Red Max
Backpack blower 32-1
MS 290 50-1

If it was me, there would only be one can of mixed gas, stihl oil at 40 to one. Never hurt anything yet...............

You can use the 50:1 in these old saws just fine.

I'm pretty sure it's the same mount pattern as the other stihl mid-size saws 3003-xxx-xxxx
