I have a Stihl 031 AV saw I see on the bottom of the Carburetor a small hose not corneted to any thing on the one end. What is that hose for?
Thanks

Not remembering right off what you are talking about, but it sounds like it probably is the impulse hose which most saws i worked on connects to the crankcase on or near the bottom of the cylinder. It is necessary for your carb to function as it should if that is in fact what it is.

The hose was cornuted to the Carburetor at one end and nothing at the other end

This isn't the fuel line, the hose is on the bottom of the Carburetor
It has been said "IMPULSE LINE" If you are referring to my comment, I was implying there is NO fuel line/hose in the carb box. So it must be the impulse line or someone has done something weird.
What are you trying to ask and what I am assuming you are asking must be 2 different questions.

Mate I have an Stihl 031AV and the small rubber tube at bottom of carby is the impulse line(as others correctly say)
It connects to a metal tube pressed into the crankcase and MUST be fitted and not leaking to make the fuel pumping section of the carby work. There is another fitting near that (Behind carby bulkhead) its the oil tank breather letting air into oil tank as oil is used up. It does not have any tube attached.
Very hard to buy any parts for this saw now especially in Australia. If anyone reading knows where to get Stihl 031 parts-like this tube or the carby manifold flexible rubber- like to know. Over here you cannot get ignition coils even aftermarket ones dont fit right on the armature mounting bolt pattern.
