Looks like the clutch spring is worn.

Are the metal fragments magnetic?

Can we see the backside of the clutch?

Not every 1125 had the oil pump protector washer behind it. Some early ones didn’t, although I can’t tell you which ones. Same with the 024/026 series. The back of the clutch is different, and adding the washer will cause the saw to not stop spinning the chain at idle, so then the brake is applied and it wears the crap out of the clutch.

Just food for thought. May not apply to you. I’ve mismatched them before.

That worm gear looks AM to me. Proof that someone besides Still has been there.

Here is the back side of the clutch. This saw did have the washer. I am going to call the previous owner this week to ask about any work that was done. My next step will probably be to clean the whole thing up and see if their are any other pieces.

Thanks for all the help everyone.

Looks like the correct clutch for the needed washer.

Clean saw and run it. See what happens.

The metal could be old.

Interested in magnetic or not.

So the metal is magnetic. I’m in the process of cleaning the saw currently

Alright so I cleaned it out a bit. It seems that the rubber Oiler hose got heated up. I actually had to cut it off. Oil seemed to be burned into the clutch area. I decided to open the muffler up to and there seems to be quite a bit of carbon in there. I’m still quite new so any feedback would be great.

Thanks everyone!

The oiler hoses on those older saws always seem to be hard as a rock. Sometimes it's more like splitting it off than cutting it off. While the pump is out, you may as well pull the hose that goes into the oil tank and check that it is sound and that the filter is clean.
Looks like another piece of metal by the case screw next to the oil tank hose. Sure does look like a piece of clutch spring.
