Stihl 034 vs 034 AV

I just picked up a nice 034 (not AV). Just trying to see the difference between the 034 and the 034AV. This saw has the chain tensioner on the front which surprised me (not through the clutch cover).

I'm sure they are the same saw just different badges. Only variant in the 034 was the 034 Super and that was cylinder size and chain tensioner position. I think later 034 's might have had a side tensioner.

I went to my Stihl repair guy and he explained the AV stands for Anti Vibration. It may have to do with the shock mounting configuration.

Was given a 034 the chain tensioner is out front by the spikes it,s a PITA swapping out chains compared to the side tensioner.

They all had the same AV system. It’s just a difference in the badge on the top cover
