On my 036Pro, I removed the spark arrestor screen and drilled two 1/2" diameter holes in the front cover of the muffler. I welded a 3/4" diameter by 1 inch long steel tube over each drilled hole. The two ports point straight out in front of the saw. They are not so long as to be up against a tree when bore cutting or bucking a large log, but they are within a few inches. I realize that if things are real dry, this could possibly start a fire. Might buy some more screen and tack it in place over the drilled holes. I did not enlarge the original muffler opening which discharged to the right side. I believe I have not removed too much material so that a negative pressure condition can exist inside the muffler and draw in contaminants to damage the engine. I say, I believe, but I don't know for sure. From what I have described, do you guys see any problem with what I have done. This saw may soon be Greffardized. I wonder if Dennis would rather I just replace the muffler cover with a new one so he can do his own thing on the exhaust?
