Hey guys,

I tore apart my 038AV this weekend, trying to get to the root of my oiling problems (the lack of bar oil that is).

After I got into the oil pump, I noticed the pump plastic gear are missing about half a tooth on about 5 teeth. This indicates (to me) that the gear is being raised to the point that it losing contact with the drive gear. Is there some way to ensure a better gear to gear contact? I did replace both gears a while back because of the same problem. I'm thinking there is something worn or missing that retains the gears in place.

I put it all back together and it's working for now, but I'm sure it will stop again soon.

Your input is appreciated.

Thanks.

Depends on the model you have.. mostly the pump gear is retained in postion by the side cover contact point. Replace the side cover - cheap..
