well, I got the saw running. This thing is a beast. It will cut through a log like butter. I am going to rebuild the carb tho. Does anyone have the pn for a rebuild kit or do I have to order it piecemeal?

The gas is being pulled into the carb ok. Idle is a bit rough. rebuild should smooth that out. I have an IPL but it doesnt list a carb kit. any help????
TIA

Marty, I will call your 041 powerhead, and raise 3 burnt up Husky 55's
and a rusty xl12!

Please scroll down for my infomercial link, I am selling my special bar lube
dirt cheap at 29.95 a gallon.

If this forum has deteriorated into a marketing tool, then I am gone.

I rebuilt the carb with the kit I ordered. The saw starts fine after a few pulls. It still doesnt idle well and will load up and die after a minute or so. I havent determined if this was a heat related issue causing loss of spark or loss of fuel. I am thinking about monitoring the fuel line flow. any ideas????

parts replaced: carb rebuild kit
fuel filter
inlet fuel line
impulse line

If by "loading up" you mean it startrs to run slower and chugs then dies, it's running too rich. Monitoring the fuel line ? probably won't help...

First though: can you keep it running by application of throttle?

If it's just idle, try tuning your low end to the leaner (clockwise) and readjusting the low idle screw to compensate.

Two things that can affect "richness" are the metering needle height and a loose welch plug. Both of these have little to do with idle though - mainly affect the higher speed running.

If you have an HS kit that has the split metering needle arm, make sure the metering diaphragm hooks INTO the arm, not rides on top like most other carb kits.

Check your carb block gaskets, and carb block screws for tightness, These get loose and leak air. Hard to tune if they are leaking.

If so
