I got one. Broke at the rear. Needs a splint. $15.00 + shipping from 99206

Coincidentally I have one that's starting to crack at the rear. What do you use as a "splint?"
On my 026 that was cracked I used a soldering iron and melted it back together and then filled where I melted with 2 tone epoxy! Held great so far.

I have used about a 20 ha piece of ss that is formed to the inside of the handle. Then I countersink 2 machine screws to the bottom and 2 inside the handle. If this doesn't make sense let me lnow

Could try plastic welding it. I know there's guys around here that do it. See if someone local has the gear and give it a try. Don't know if anyone has attempted this on a saw or even if it works. I had my motorcycle done and it was great.

I've got some epoxy resin leftover from an acquaintance's experimental airplane build. I was thinking of layering on a bandaid of resin and fiberglass.

I see guys all the time looking for 044 tanks. I can't understand why they don't make aftermarket ones when they make them for 038's, 372's, 272's etc.

There would certainly be lots of demand.
I agree totally DSS. The aftermarket demand for these would be good, but I'm just a saw hack, what do I know about the market?
The ominous search for a 044 tank is like the expedition to find the albino snipe.
Did the OP find said tank? Or is the search still on. Did not know if I need to still dive into the parts
supply or stand by. Let me know.
Thanks

If the OP did find one and is not in need anymore, I need one aswell. I have a 044 with a 440 tank. Damned floppy cap annoys me.

Send him a PM (conversation). I'm sure he'd be willing to trade with you. :)

Did you find a tank yet?
If an MS460 tank will work, I have one for sale.
It is starting to crack at the rear, I can send pics. I will even plastic weld it for you if you want it.
