Does anyone know if the 046 came with just one style carb? or did it have several differant carbs on it over time? I need to rebuild mine and I haven't taken the saw down yet to see what carb is on it, so I can order a rebuild kit for it.

OK I tore into my 046 tonight but couldn't find everything there is on the carb, I did find out its a Walbro, and from everything I can find on the Stihl cd its a HD-16 (haven't been able to find the #'s on the carb yet) the only problem is there are two different rebuild kits for this carb and I cant find out which one I have, I can find that there is a K10-HDB and a K10-HDC rebuild kit, does anyone know which one it is that fits the 046 HD-16 carb?

I dont know for sure, I'd get both kits, and use the gaskets that match up right on your carb. Dont you just hate when you dont know what you've got, and the saw used as many as 5 different carbs on it?
Finally got it, its a HD-8A not a HD-16, and for anyone else that has to deal with this it takes the Walbro #K10-HDB Carb Kit for the rebuild on it. I had to keep looking at the blown up diagram on the Stihl cd and comparing it to the rebuild kit to figure out which one it was. The pump diaphragm is the one that gives it away.
