Here is my project saw almost done. What do you think so far. I need a few things like the tags , air filter, . I do have a couple of questions though, like the air filter cover its plastic as you know , Should i paint that also or would i have problems with the paint sticking to it. And also how should I adjust the carb for first start up since it has new piston and rings , and break in method.
Info would be appreciated.

NICE JOB!

If you paint the plastic cover, you'll need to use a primer specifically formulated to stick to nylon... or.. do as I did, and buy a NOS cover from cheapstihlsawparts..

Set your carb to defaults... 1 turn on the low and 1 1/4 in high. Adjust from there. You don't need to do anything special for break-in - just take it easy for the first few tanks and don't rev it wot except for carb adjustment, and then just for a few seconds.

Hot digged dog............Looks very good!

Copenhagen what a wad of flavor................
If a man was to quit chew, could buy a new saw a year...........But I can't :bang:

I might just find the right primer and just paint this one then and see how it works. If all else fails Ill just find a new one .Im gonna wait a week or two to start it ,so I can let the paint cure longer . I didnt have the pieces sand blasted, So I sanded my arse off. Thanks for the compliments. Oh yeah thanks to this site and you guys ,Im ready to do another one .

Well when i went to order all my parts from my dealer . I had all the part numbers to all the stuff i wanted. It was the holiday weekend and they said they would order the stuff on tuesday . They said they would call me if they had any problem on getting anything . Ok I get a call and they said they couldnt get the airfilter and the name tags. Then there were a few other things I didnt get, had to find theme else were . It was a couple of young pups working that day , Im a noob at this , and i knew what was going on more than them,Oh well ,Ill go back and have them look up the name tag a and rivets again I got to have it to complete my project:biggrinbounce2:

Nice looking project there! I hope to have something very similiar looking by this weekend with my 045 Super project. BTW, I ordered a new model plate and Stihl plate with rivets. They appear to be available. I sure hope so. The only thing that won't be original on mine is an Elastostart.

Name tag - 0000 967 2020 - $2.00
Rivets - 0000 974 1000 - $0.15 each.

Airfilter - 1115 120 1615 - $38.95

all available...

Very nice restoration indeed. Speaking of the 056, I have one, but can't discern whether it's a Magnum or not. Does the SN # 118562342 mean anything in this regard?
Thanks,
John

Maybe.. it is one of the very late production so the chance is great that is a Magnum 2. Bore size of 56mm, dual ported muffer etc are the signs of a magnum 2...

If it runs half as good as it looks you will have an awesome saw!

Thanks for the compliments . When the paint cures long enough Ill get it fired up and carb adjusted and see what it does. Thats going to be another learning expieriance adjusting the carb. Oh well, with the info I get from here Im sure Ill get it tuned right.
