In my continuing quest to keep my 066 "ship shape" I replaced the broken chain brake handle. That was pretty straightforward, but the steel loop that make the brake part was broken too, and I can't figure out what is keeping it in on the bottom. It looks like a gold/brass colored pin or screw. What appears to be the "head" is not recognizable as anything, but I can see the pin or shaft that appears to be holding it in.

Which is it? How does it come out?

mmm, looked it up in a manual. or parts list actual.

i couldnt copy those pics so i made 'screenshots'. (actually, can some one explain me how to make those straight away on the PC?)

R Schra,

Since you're working with a .pdf I'm not sure there's much you can do without Adobe pagemaker.

However, you have another option. If you press the 'alt' and 'prnt scrn' buttons simultaneously, you create a copy of the current active window. All you would have to do is go to your image editing software and paste it in, resize, crop, and save as a jpeg. 'Ctrl' and 'prnt scrn' copies the entire image on your computer screen--task bar, start button, multiple windows you may have open, everything.

This is assuming you have Windows.

oldsaw,

Some saws have the band end wrapped tightly in a groove in the case. Some have the end wrapped around the pin and is pressed in. Yours, should just pry out with a screwdriver.

The 066 band has the pin welded right onto the band. The pin is part of the band. You can use a screwdriver to pry the old one out and the new one will just slip right into the slots in the case.

Got it. It was wedged in pretty good.

Sprayed some brake cleaner and shot it with the air compressor. Then I saw what I was working with.

Thanks anyway guys. Nice to know the support is here.
