So I bought an 066 as a project saw, the saw is in tough shape cosmeticaly at least, I have not tore in to it yet but checked a few things on it, The saw has spark but very low compression, looking through the exhaust, I dont see any major scoring but the rings look bad and the cylinder looks dirty, the saw has a metal flywheel, the saw is dirty and looks well used, the clutch side of the crankcase appears to have seen better days but the flywheel side looks to be good, I bought the saw as a project, now I am having second thoughts as I dont think I will get enough use out of such a large saw, I hate to sink the coin into a saw that will see limited use, I was wondering if anybody has a 036/360/361 project saw that they would want to trade for the 066.IMG_1612.JPG IMG_1616.JPG IMG_1616.JPG

Hmm, is it specifically projects you're looking for? I have an 034 that was a project saw, but the project is pretty much done. It now has new bearings and a Hyway 036 top end, not even broken in.

Well then that's a frankensaw. I don't think the 064's came with a dual port muffler either. And a 066 muffler cover will not fit a 064 muffler. The case and airbox are definitely 064. The top may have been changed though.

Could be. But I really think its a legit 66. Ive had em just like that one, non-HD/old style caps/dual port. Best way to tell would be bore size and oil pump feed line configuration. 064=rubber line, 066=metal line....

I agree with Jeremy- it appears to be an early 066. They were sold in Canada and Europe with the low-profile air filter system (and in the U.S. as "Arctic" saws.) The dual-port cover won't fit early 064 mufflers but it will fit later 064 mufflers, which were the same as 066. Since the seller is in Michigan, I would bet this one originally came out of Canada.

I actually live in Minnesota, but you are correct, I bought the saw from a logger in Saskatchewan Canada

I want to appologize for the hold up on making a decision, I have recieved a lot of very good offers from folks on here, I also have a few offers localy as the saw is posted on CL as well, I am trying to be patient and take my time in making a decision as I want to be sure that both parties are well informed and walk away happy, I was reluctant to post the saw on this site, as I am new to the site and I look to it a lot for information, and I don't want to get a bad reputation if for some reason the transaction failed to go as both parties saw fit. To those that have made offers, I havent forgot about you, thanks for your interest and patience.
Jason
