Stihl 066 Jungle saw/ Brazil

As promised, Here is the scoup on the new old stock 066's that have been on Ebay. The saw is made in Stihl's plant in Brazil. It has the plastic new style flywheel and crank, it does NOT have a compression release, or a threaded whole with a plug. Probably why it has a different part number in the Stihl parts book. It has the standard handle, but everything else seems the same...
Except, the muffler. It has the dual port jungle muffler shown in the Stihl parts book..Brazil Only. The main port is 5/8" diameter and the front cover port is almost 7/8" tall by 3/16" wide. The felling dogs are the same size as my 066Arctic.

For those of us who don't know, could you explain the plastic flywheel and crank thing? Surely they are not made of plastic are they? John

Steve here...I use the term plastic very loosely. It is some kind of high tech pheonelic, Ken Dunn or one of the other saw builders may be able to elaborate more. The new style 066's and Ms660's have this new style flywheel and larger cranks I believe, and larger crank bearings, than the early 066's and 064's.

The other thing I wanted to say. The guy I got the saw from is sending me the original owners manual, it's in spanish. He sends out the saws with english manuals. I may be able to date the saw from the copy right in the book.

I bought it out rite from a guy on Ebay down in Florida... He bought up a bunch of old stock. Who knows how they ended up in the States.

Do you know if any adjustments to carb or special fuel required for these saws? I say a couple on ebay a while ago but was a little leary about the way it looked.

Here is the big difference in carb specs out of the Stihl parts book.

The early and late 066 USA/CA carb the fixed jet is .64
The Brazil carb the fixed jet is .74

More fuel more power??? worse emissions
There is a hole list of differences in the carb parts besides the carb model numbers themselves.

USA/CA carb is a WJ67 early 066
USA/CA carb is a WJ69 late 066Mag and Arctic
Brazil carb is a WJ76

Oh and it does NOT have high and low speed carb limiter caps

Im going to try to get one of those carbs and put it on one of my 066's and see if I can see a difference.

All you really need is the jet. The carb is semi adjustable, meaning, the jet is most of the adjustment. I got one for the hotsaw, should be availble no problem.

Wouldn't the original Brazilian manual be in Portuguese instead of Spanish?

a most interesting post..i still dont understand the plastic flywheel pt.. but ido know lot of new auto transmissions got plastic gears. i still remember my dads new 56 buick with dyna flo trans..
dang thing broke bout ever 6 months..
and it was steel gears.. weve come a long way aint we..

Tony. A lot of newer saws have plastic flywheels, makes the saw lighter.

066 Jungle saw

Steve here... Finally got around to gasing up the new jungle saw on Sunday... Huge felt squezze and no compression release. Sounds happy...Sure dances around like it is, hasn't met wood yet though.

Any way here's a better pic of the dual port non spark arrestor muffler it came with. No screens in the exhaust.
