stihl 084 bar and chain question

I picked up a 084 with a bad bar on it.
I'm going to run it on a mill so a smaller kerf bar and chain would be better maybe.
The current bar is 404 .063 guage
I wonder if one of the .5 guages bar and chain will do fine on this saw?
Or is the 084 too much saw for that small a guage?

You can run 3/8" on it. It may be harder to find a .050" bar for it though.

Might repost in the milling forum, or search old threads. I know a lot of those guys are running 084's, 088's and 880's .
