I have a 08s that has the 44mm cylinder and I was wanting to go back with the same size but I can't seem to find one anywhere I look. Anyone have any ideas? Or should I just bite the bullet and upgrade to a 47 or 49mm?

Depends on how early your 08s is. The earlier 50cc 44mm 08 and S10 had cylinders that used studs and nuts, with higher base flange for the two back longer studs. Later cylinders were different with same base flange height, and used allen head screws. Early cylinders had transfer ports inlets up through the base, later had transfer port inlets in cylinder walls. The crankcases never changed and can use either, with the same base gasket.

If you don't have the early cylinder type, it would be simple to go to the larger 56cc 47mm or 60cc 49mm cylinder. From the early 70's the cylinders used the same M6x20 base screws. You will like the better power to weight.

If you do have the earlier cylinder , you can always change out the crankcase studs to use the screws. More work.

I have an early 08, very late 08sQS, couple of S10's and a TS350. The early 08 and one of the S10's have the early 44m cylnders.

The late 08s and TS are 60cc and much more fun. They breathe well and are quieter with TS mufflers.

Best saw ever made. They all start fast and rock solid dependable.Only weak spot is the handle bar mount on the oil tank.
A saw that does what a saw is supposed to do Start good cut good and last forever.
No bells and whistles just does the job.

Hello dear friend. I have Stihl 08s with 47mm cylinder and piston. Is 49mm cylinder and piston compatible with my crankcase housing ? Can i fit 49mm without modifications ? Thanks in advance

Hello, I know this is a old thread but I am in the same boat. I was just wondering what you came up with. Thanks
