ArboristSite Lurker
Hi - I am a long-time lurker on AS, and am fairly present on the Other Site as jacktheripper. I have had this posted elsewhere, and recently have gone down on the asking price.
I traded my ported 660 with a local logger for this saw. He has had it in his family for a couple of decades, and it came from a logger in Montana before that.
The saw starts right up and runs, idles smoothly, and it oils like crazy.
I will clean this up more deeply before sending it off.
It appears to have been re-painted in a shoddy fashion at some point. I think the paint would wipe off with some solvent.
The main thing: The logger guy replaced a bunch of the factory parts with Chinese parts when he started to use it. He says that he didn't want to but undue wear and tear on the factory stuff while he was milling and noodling big logs with it.
The saw currently has an aftermarket piston and cylinder, crank and bearings, muffler, front and rear handle, clutch cover, and carburetor. It comes with all the original parts of you wish to put them back on, except for the clutch cover.
Bearings have a small bit of wiggle. I will include a gasket/seal kit and OEM bearings/races with the saw.
The Montana logger guy freehanded labels on the controls with an engraving tool, as you can see in the pictures.
There is a small crack in the top cover.
The starter cover is missing some fins.
It will come with the original 48" hard nose bar and 1/2 inch chain. The nose could use some dressing.
If this doesn't sell as-is, I'll restore it to OEM and re list it for more.
I'd love to flip it for$1200 $900 to somebody who could use it, plus shipping. Shipping should be around $100-150 with bar.
