I would like a little input on what my stihl 090g might be worth, I picked it up from an older gentleman, he said it has never made a cut, I does look like its never been ran, has a 25'' bar and .404 chain, im interested in selling it, I just need a starting price thanks

Looks like cleaned and rebuilt maybe a few AM parts?
Maybe I am not familiar enough with these saws but I see a lot of little things that don't look "right".
oxidized screw heads like they were in the cleaner too long
little odd chips and bubbles in the paint

I could certainly be wrong and I hope I am

Everything looks legit, except I've never seen or heard of one with Super on it. You need to remove the muffler and measure the bore. You can use something like a straw or stick, push it against the back cylinder wall, then pinch it with the piston. Even easier, give us a shot of the top of the cylinder, showing the location of the decomp.

particularly I keep staring at the nice badge right next to edge chips around it and wrong era bar
lower rear handle has missing paint flecks and a worn appearance of the inside of the grooves
wrap handle appears very used along bottom curve and ignition switch looks much older as well.

All my niggling complaints aside if it is 100% genuine I am interested :)

If you own a set of calipers, just pull the muffler and place the "butt" of your calipers against the edge of the piston and allow the center stem to extend until it touches the back side of the cylinder.

A few more pics, piston measures 66mm as close as I can tell, piston looks new, this is the real deal

way to bury the lead Dave :)

just to be clear, as this saw is likely to bring real money, you know it has been sitting in the garage at your Stihl Dealership for 28 years

not at the dealership but at my late bosses airplane hangar, it hasn't been touched nor has it cut a log since new, just some scuffs from siting and being moved around, he became a stihl dealer in 1980 so i'm sure that's when he acquired it

My thoughts...

... I see a lot of little things that don't look "right".

It appears to me as though this saw has sat in a less than ideal environment with likely high humidity and not in a box. Notice the slightly corroded edges where the finish ends. Same with the discoloration/rust/corrosion on the hardware.

Paint chips are likely from handling. The chips around the badges are because those are raised surfaces.

The fuel tank appears to have never had fuel in it. The chain sprocket and chip guard appear to have seen no use at all.

It's definitely not the original bar.

IMHO, I believe this saw to be original and unused, minus the bar. I would guess this saw to bring $2,500 - $3,000 on Ebay, especially if willing to ship to Europe or Australia.
