I bought a Stihl 2 in 1 chainsaw file sharpener last month. When I tried removing the two round files from the guide for the first time one of them stuck in the guide. It won't budge even when I pull with pliers. The other round file comes out easily. What can I do?
Thanks
Tom

Did you try to disassemble the the file.
Another option would be to simply take the chain off to dislodge.
A new chain can be a challenge sometimes getting the angle right while avoiding the inside of the raker.
On a new Stihl green chain I take a flat file to the inside of raker before attempting to sharpen by hand so I can obtain.030 angle.
Edit: my apologies I misunderstood

Did you buy it new with files in it?

I'd bring it back to the dealer if so.

If it wasn't new with file, are the right sized files in there? For example, I would "normally" use a 7/32" file for 3/8" chain when filing by hand. However the 2-in-1 guide for 3/8" chain uses 13/64" files. If you put 7/32" in, I imagine they would be very hard to get out. I don't know that helps you with information to get them out...but might explain WHY they are stuck?

To get it out...I don't know, but maybe:
*Throw it in the freezer for a few hours to try to shrink the metal just a little then warm the holder with a hair dryer???
*Spray some Liquid Wrench in the butt of the file???

(I'm assuming the one you cannot get out is the one with the pointed end looking at you when you open the top....round end down?)

Whoops! I just gave the file another hard pull with the pliers and it finally came out. It now moves easily by hand like the other round file. Thanks ATH for your reply - sorry to waste your and other people's time!

The bottom end can get kinda packed with metal dust on the one side. Blow out with air chuck once in a while after you take files out.
