Never heard of the metal can either, we've been using the same metal can for the past 18 years, and grandpa used it for 30+ years before that. No rust issues and we havent had a problem with the gas yet. I think the bigger thing is shaking the can before fueling to mix the fuel again.
Glad to hear they gave you credit on the new saw, says alot about them as a company. I also think that I would be done with the first dealer, yes it was out of warenty but it sounds like they could have handled it better than they did.
