What is max bar length for saw?
I've got a 36" bar I'd like to put a cross cut chain on for 1 big white oak and 1 large cherry tree that I need to fell and buck into firewood.
Sound reasonable?

I run a 36" on my ms460 with skip chain and it doesn't mind it at all. I've gutted the muffler and opened up the exhaust exit but haven't got a dual port cover for it yet and not as good as it runs, but you know how that goes lol. No porting or go fast parts just muffler mod and retuned, runs very well for what I need

It'd be a stretch. If you have the bar already, at least get full skip chains and make sure oiling.

Yeah it'll pull a 36" bar for occasional use. If you need a 36" frequently, there's better saws for the job, but that doesn't sound like the case.

Skip chain will help. Turn your oiler all the way up. Even that might be pretty dry. You can pull it out mid cut and piss rev it a couple times for some extra oil.

Thanks found it, maxed out already.
I'll give it a go with skip chain if I can find some locally.
If not, Gunnar have to run 24" bar
But I don't think it'll get through oak...

I'm running a 24" on my 461 with the dual port cover. Oak, maple, hickory, ironwood. It doesn't care, it just eats. 24" is probably the bar I'll run on it the majority of the time. Either that or a 20". In a pinch I'm sure it would pull a 36" with skip chain, but I wouldn't make it a habit.
