Got to thinking I've never milled any cherry so I had to seal up a few pieces today.
Glad ya talked me into it, been stuck in firewood mode for a month
@Hunt4lumber Looking forward to seeing what those slabs look like. Last fall I had a local logger stop in and buy a cherry tree that had tipped over by the roots. He got a nice 16 foot log and a bunch of shorter ones. He was planning on milling them.

I might look into getting a small bansaw mill to do small stuff up at the house( if such beast exists)my chainsaw mill works but it wastes alot more than a ban saw...

Any Amish in your area? Some of them have saw mills you might be able to take a few logs to for milling.

For very occasional use a 460 will pull a 36" full comp if you need it. I've done it several times. When the 660 has technical difficulties but u need the length to finish a job it goes slower and you have to baby it but you can do it. If you have the bar and chain it only takes a few mins to swap it out if you don't like it...
