I ended up putting a new meteor piston in . Honed the cylinder and it's back in action.

Turns out the spring in the spark plug boot was bad causing the saw not to rev up . New spring and it's as good as new
Ha, I fixed one of those a couple weeks back. Guy said it wouldn’t keep running. Broken spring, 661

The EPA exhaust restrictions will contribute to heat retention. My 661 with porting and empty can didn't respond well til it was broke in and the little round hole became a picture window as large as possible and the screen replaced. The brain that adjusts the carb adapts very well (<; to that in my experience. It will out perform a stock 881 I believe
In my experience they do out perform any of the stock 8 series. And 10# lighter 😳 and his with 42”, .404, 7t, 52AJ on both. But then my 066 does the same :p

ya it's strong enough for a cheap spark tester but not a new plug- think i have some wires on wrong- layed up with a sore back but will get at it again in a couple of days- put a new meteor piston in this one to- deglazed that perfect cyliner I took off but thought I had better start of with a new piston as well.
