I was lookin at ebay for a bar and I found this http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-STIHL-28-IN...ryZ79669QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
It says the bar is 3/8 .050, but I looked the chain up on stihl's website and it says that chain is only available in .404 .063. So what I'm wondering is if this guy is selling 2 chains with a bar that can't run the chains. Or am I wrong and that chain is available in 3/8 .050.

I found the same info in my 2006 Stihl catalogue...you might want to ask/tell the seller about it...might save an uniformed buyer some grief.

Kevin

That chain is, and was, available in 3/8" .050.
Grab it quick its a good deal!
The loop of chain are $24.50/each!

The part number for the chain is
3955 005 **** You replace the last four number with the number of drive links you need in the chain.

So....If it is for a 24" bar the # is 3955 005 0084
For a 20" bar 3955 005 0072
And a roll would be 3955 005 1640....you get the idea.

Are you talking about the RSLK or RSLFK chain?

Kevin

Neither, RSLF Just like he had on the listing.

Thanks, I guess I meant RSLF. In my 2006 Stihl catalogue (pg.39), the RSLF chain show's availability in .404", 0.063" and the part number is 3851...I'm not trying to be a jerk, just trying to make sense of this...misprint in catalogue? Old stock? Just curious.

Not sure? Maybe its only in the bar and chain catalog and not inthe Master catalo.

Go to your dealer and see if he'll give you a copy of the bar and chain catalog. If not maybe he'll photocopy his, its in his dealer support manual.

I'd get it but I don't want the square ground. I have no experience sharpening it and I'm usually cutting trees once they're on the ground anyway and so they're kind of dirty.

Evan

Square can be filed to round PDQ...
Yeah but I mainly cut dirty wood and I'm content with semichisel for now. That will probably soon change the more I use chainsaws. I just do small sidejobs working for my cousin right now. And it already sold anyway.
