OK, I am corn-fused. I have been running some stihl RS in .325 and using a 3/16 file as for all my .325 chain. I also have some stihl RS in 3/8 that I use 7/32 file for.
My confusin is. Somewhere I read that you are suppose to use a 13/64 file for one of these chains. Is it the .325 I am suppose to use the 13/64 file on instead of the 3/16, due to the larger cutter on the stihl RS chain? Words of wisdom ole wise stihl man.

Hmmm, I think I forgot to reply to your PM!! sorry...

On the 3/8 Stihl would like you to use 13/64 instead of the 7/32 because it won't cut into the tie straps (that's what they say) as much when you get way back on the tooth. Most guys I know use whichever file is closer to grab..

1/4 inch = 5/32 file
3/8 picco narrow = 5/32 file
3/8 picco = 5/32 file
.325 = 3/16 file
3/8 - 13/64th file
.404 - 7/32 file

Doesn't matter if RS or RM style

Thanks for the info. I dont see any reason to switch from my 7/32 files then.
