My AS 1 year anniversary was yesterday 7-23. I can honestly say that in my 1st year on AS this is the coolest thing I've seen.
I mean seriously........A German military Stihl Contra Kit? WOW

Thats cooler than the other side of the pillow.

I bet you could get a small fortune out of that one. Thats just awesome with the kit and all that. I love the fuel can. I';m jealous.

First of all that is a very nice Contra but Iam very suprised that it is not green, which would suggest that it is in fact a very good saw which has been added to a genuine kit. Every Contra that has been in service I have seen has been green, such as my own and Brad's, and even a few had a green "bonnet" Are there any military #'s or even hand written #'s
There was a unissued Contra about 2 years ago that went for around $1700.
The German army went from BLK on to Contra then 045 and on to 064.
I like the filling jig which I have myself and the box of parts are great. The kit is almost the same as my BLK's kit the spare chain box is almost a work of art.
You have got a very nice result there.

I am a die hard Husky man and that is still the coolest thing I 've ever seen

That is awesome so what's the story behind it and getting it?

Congratualtions on a rare find indeed. It has been well looked after for all of those years, and I bet it is in safe hands now. Best of luck looking after the saw and its history for many more years to come.

Well done!

Regards,

Chris.

Now I'm wondering if the German military contracted any of the other saw manufacturers.

Sure would sell off a few things if'n I ever came across a big Sachs Dolmar in a kit like that.

That is WAY cool! I'm surprised it's not green like mine.

I'm not that surpriced, just a little - as far from all Army saws are green.

One possibility is that it just isn't part of the original batch the German Army bought, but from additional batch bought later. 1965 is a late date for a contra.

Always get a chuckle from these military saws that are green. It's not like once you fire them up, that you will blend in with the surroundings.

X2 The only thing I have seen as cool was Military issue Husky 181. Did not post these pics to take away from your find it is Beyond Awesome!!
Shep

Yep, but the supplement 281s that the British Army bought were ordinary orange ones, as far as I have observed. :D

This may be a dumb question, but I wander what the US military currently uses? Stihl or Husqvarna?

Count!! Whats up baby?! :) You got that PhD. in the bag yet brotha? Hope all is a goin well. Been slingin some chips with that 346?

ney, I just got my masters degree this year. phD is 3 years so it will prolly happen next year.
that 346 has made some money this sumer; I have been bucking firewoods for my parents neighbors; been working at 12 cubic meters at the time.
Not happy about fuel consumption and I think I need a 70+ cc for the job.
but for now it`ll do.
other than that, busy like no tomorrow, my son is 14 months old, so that`s an extra.
can`t wait for him to grow to play with his chainsaw,
cheers
