Hello (first time user),

I have a Stihl Farm Boss 029. The sprocket broke. Seemed like a simple fix. Pull the clip and slide off the spacer washer and sprocket.

The needle bearing is shot. I got one at the dealer, but it seems to long. As a matter of fact it seems double too long. When I slide it on the shaft it extends to far out and even sticks out the sprocket. Hence, I can't put the clip back on because of it.

What am I not seeing or doing wrong?

Thanks,
Mike
very green at saw repairs:bang: :help:

I always take the bad one with me so I can match it up, if it is infact too long, then it wont work,,,,,, did the old cage come out intact????

I took the old sprocket with me, so I hoped I'd get the right one, but didn't. The old cage was ground up and not much was left of it. (I had to ask the parts guy what it was) The new cage literally looks like two. One cage with bearings, a space, then another cage. It measures about 7/8 of an inch long. It needs to be about half of that. It literally looks like two together.

Mike:cry:

Thanks for your help. I'll have to take it back on 1/2 now.

Best wishes for the new year.

Mike

Take you saw with ya if you can, make sure you get what you need, also slap just a dab of grease on the cage, and you should grease it weekly if you are cutting every day, it does not take much,,,, Its probably the reason the first one failed,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,:greenchainsaw:
