Ive got one of these model trimmers, metal case, tank on top, etc...Has a long long shaft and a massive bump head with a tiny little steel guard.

MY question is, is there a way to do away with the Handle bars and a throttle, and put on a one hand throttle and D loop like on a regular trimmer?

Also, I need a carb for it, the fuel inlet fell out, and wont go back in, it has good compression, looks like brand new, but the fuel inlet will fall out if you try and run it for a few minutes.

I can 1 arm the thing if I could get a throttle on the shaft, instead of the bicycle bars..lol

I would assume there is, you'd just need the part numbers. On my old Stihl FS66, I went from the standard throttle on the shaft with the loop handle to the handlebar setup. Both setups have their advantages, but I seem to like the handlebar setup best with the blade and mowing large pieces of open ground. For trim work, I'd rather use the throttle on the shaft with the loop handle as it is more manuverable (for me). Hopefully Lakeside can provide you part numbers for the conversion. Check with Curt Bailey for the parts. I purchased my handlebar setup from him for $25 or so back in the early spring. Now if I could find a decent used handlebar setup for my FS250 I'd be set!

By used... crazy to convert with new parts on an old unit like a 65.. Look in a Stihl dealer dumpster - They get thrown out all the time.

I have the same problem with an Echo I have - bike handlebars on a 310/311. PITA. There is NO way to hold a little throttle (and echo doesn't have an interlock like Stihl) or anything like that when starting unless you have three hands. This part of Echo line sucks. One day i'll find a D-ring and shaft throttle setup lying in a field... maybe...

Ive got an old Brushcutter in my Shed...

Hoffco Whizz Witch
85cc Tecumseh 2 stroke
10" Echo blade

I swear, Ive seen it used once and it scared the person using it as much as it scared me to watch it being used. It has a friction throttle, set it and forget it.

Ive got a pic of it..hold on a minute.
