I just made several searches on fuel mixtures and carb settings but didn't hit what I wanted. I have ran my MS180 through quite a few tanks of 32:1 fuel. I changed the bar and chain to .050 verses .043, and the saw has been a dog ever since. However, the chain is 10 times better. I decided to mix the fuel according to the manual, 50:1. I took it out yesterday to cut a load of hedge and it ran exactly the same on the 50:1. It is amazing to me the carb adjusted to that automatically. How is Stihl doing that? I seen one post that referred to the carb as fixed jet, but I don't see how a fixed jet carb could compensate for different oil mixtures. I'm just using the MS180 for back up and cleaning off the branches, it's easy starting and very light.

So, the carb is fixed jet and there's no magic? By the way, the tank repair on my 028 is holding great, thanks.
