I recently had problems with my ms250 bogging down at full throttle. In an effort to diagnose the problem I put a tach on it. At full throttle and no load it was around 14500 rpm. I figured this may be the problem so I tried to make the saw run a bit more rich... turns out the carb screw is turned as far in the counterclockwise direction as it can go. Essentially no way for me to reduce the rpm. So I assume I will need to remove the screw limiting cap or tab... whatever this saw has. Can anyone help walk through this? Thanks!

Some just use a screw and pull them right off, I used a small flat head. By when u pull them off you may need a special tool to adjust or it may just be a small flathead

Yep i usually use a coarse thread drywall screw, i like to grind just a little bit off the end, helps it grab sooner. Just thread it in a bit and use a pair of pliers to pull it off. Beware of usi g the threads of the drywall screw to pull the limiter (ie threading the screw in until the limiter is pulled off, i have broken a carb jet doing it that way)

Thanks for the info. Does anyone have any pics or a video? Don't want to ruin it but obviously the factory setting is no good.

So here's what I'm looking at... not sure what needs to be removed.

The limiters are in the rubber in the top right corner of pic. Remove carb and see the plastic limiters

Oh ok. That's making more sense. So could I just pull that whole rubber component off and adjust the high and then put it back on?

Alright. So if I'm understanding correctly, the 250 doesn't have the fixed limiters. So with the rubber cap on, I'm limited to the 3/4 turn on the high. But, I can take the rubber covers off, adjust the card more than the 3/4 turn then just put the rubber cap back on?

These don't have the limiters you use a drywall screw with, get some pliers and pull the plastic piece off....once it's off you have full adjustability....I have pulled many of these off...

you can pull the black cap off, or grind the "stop" off....either way works...

Yes sir, no problem.....you should do a little muffler modification whiles you are messing with her...it will wake her up some....ou will have to open up the H screw just a hair...

Not necessarily, I have never had one come "out" of adjustment by pulling the whole thing off....however if it would give you a piece of mine know it's there, just leave it.....you can easily shave it off with a utility knife, then put it right back on!!!

I wish I had said that!!
