Sure, if you're in stihl country, the 260 is a good place to start. so is the 200 not T model

Depends on what you're aiming to do with it, I guess. It is a solid, proven design that just keeps going and going. If you buy one please be aware that they benefit immensely from opening the muffler up a bit (and then returning, of course). Stick with a 16" bar and .325" chain and you'll be quite happy with an MS260. Anything beyond that is asking more of the saw than it should be expected to give.

Personally I think the Dealer would frown on returning it with a bunch of holes in it. I would retune it :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

Got two of them myself they are great little saws, and a good place to start. I run more fuel through my little 260 then any other saw I own and have no problems recomending it to you, unless you have a steady diet of 30" trees.

Like computeruser said though you really should open up that pin hole in the muffler it really brings that saw to life, and stick to the .325 pitch chain.

I like the 260 quite a bit. Good limbing and light general purpose saw. Been around a long time and keeps on working. I agree with the 16" bar / .325" pitch chain, however, as just a small consideration...I think you'll find greater chain availability in 3/8" pitch (Perhaps Stihl RSC, and in a pinch you can pretty much always find 3/8" chain in some flavor). Either way...good little saw. Oh yeah...and do open the muffler a little.

+1 I've used both .325 and 3/8 chain on my 026/260 saws; and have finally converted all my saws to 3/8". It simplifies my going to the field with bars, drive sprockets, chains, etc all being compatible and interchangeable. And I only have to buy and stock one size chain, bar, sprocket, etc. instead of two of everything.
A muffler modded 026/026 pro/260 Pro will pull an 16" 18" or 20" bar with ease in hard wood where I live. I prefer the 18" bar myself, others, who don't like to bend over, run the 20" with good results. I think its really a matter of preference, and you will soon know what your own preference is going to be. Great saws, buy and enjoy.
