Here are the p/n's according to the IPL I located: Outer bumper spike 1135 664 0500
Inner bumper spike 1135 664 0501
Correct sprocket cover 1138 648 0400
I asked for the IPL here on the manuals thread, Atpchas graciously sent the right stuff. I don't know what numbers you have or where you got them, but these numbers are from Stihl.

The part numbers you are looking for are in the parts list for the 362 wrap kit. I don't have an IPL for an MS 362. The kit p/n is 1140 007 1012, according to a Duck Duck Go search I just did. Ask you dealer to give you a printout of that kit number, but verify it is for a 362 saw before you spend any more money. Then you can double check all the numbers you need. I'm sorry your dealer is unable to chase the numbers down for you, he has access to the parts lists and his Stihl rep if he has trouble. If he won't or can't help send me a pm and I will find the right stuff.

Thank You for your offer and if I cannot resolve this locally then I will take you up on it! Appreciate the assistance.

@DND 9000 and others:

OK, Still trying to order the correct inner matching spike that came with the large clutch cover (1122-640-1711) with outer spike 1122-664-0501C. Is that match going to be 1122 664 0506? This will be the third time with the dealer on this and I am hoping to have a hit this time and not a strike out😳

Thanks so much, had no idea this was going to be so complicated to communicate to the dealer.
Spikes which are used in conjunction with this 1122 640 1711 clutch cover are:
Inner spike (on chainsaw body): 1122 664 0506
Outer spike (on sprocket cover 1122 640 1711): 1122 664 0501, if you find the spike 1122 664 0509 it should also work. But as I know the 0509 was replaced by the 0501 spike, at least in this application on the MS 440 parts and some others.

OK, Still no luck with the inside spike
I ordered the 1122 664 0506 and it's the exact same spike that I received initially. I realize that I am using a clutch cover not expressly made for the MS400 but others have done the same and apparently they have no problem. The inner spike is approximately 1/8 to 3/16" short in projection from matching the outer spike referenced above and the roller chain catcher holes also don't line up. I keep, throwing $20 spikes at this and ending up in the same place! Someone who has done this modification to their MS400 please kindly walk me through this. I'm really not an idiot but surely beginning to feel like one :)

When I ordered the 362 wrap kit, it came with inner and outer dogs. The inner dog was 1135 664 0501A.

Outer that mounts to clutch cover was 1135 664 0500A.

I didn’t use them but they seem to fit the saw and line up.

Thanks for the pictures! Did you also change your clutch cover to the large capacity one for the MS440? That seems to be where my problems lie. Just maybe the inner spike is OK but the outer one is the issue ....Perhaps I'm flogging the wrong horse? I will get some pics to share.

I did. These dogs were in the kit with the large cover and 3/4 wrap. I just didn’t use them.

Edit: I used the kit for the 362.

OK, so I know that I am wearing Y'all out with this but I would really like to place an order just one time for a large capacity clutch cover and felling spikes for my MS 400. In fact this is where I should have "started" the discussion before buying the MS 440 large cover as was stated by another member ( not his fault, mine for not performing my due diligence)

So, thanks to a few members here who I have PM'd I have gotten three different part numbers for a large capacity clutch cover to fit my MS 400:

1138-648-0400
1140-007-1012
1138-648-0460(A)

So, which is correct? The dealer(s) do not want to help and just tell me it doesn't exist for this saw. Guess they fear liability?? If I go in with part numbers they will sell the parts to me though.

Also spikes for the above were also provided as:

Outer 1135-664-0500(A)
Inner 1135-664-0501(A)
With cover 1138-648-0400

BTW I now have a large capacity clutch cover for a MS440 and felling spikes that are of no use to me so guess I will post them for sale 😁

I sincerely appreciate all of the help with my little project and apologies for my ignorance!
Ed

Are you still asking for information?
I'm a bit confused by the last post.
If you still want info, I'll repeat some of the information you have received.
I removed this from a spare 361 to take pics.
Clutch cover 1138 648 0400 is a big clutch cover for the MS400.
This is what I have on mine. Also fits MS361 and MS362.
You need rubber chip deflector 1138 656 1500 for the cover.
Also, you need the plastic brake cover 1140 021 1100 because you are switching from the much smaller cover. It's a very inexpensive piece.
I assume the plastic brake cover comes with the MS362 wrap kit.
For spikes I bought the ones pictured from a seller on eBay. It's a really nice set of spikes. I have them on several saws.
Many good spikes are available for the MS362/MS400.
The 362 and 400 cases are not exactly the same, but in regard to the clutch cover and spikes they are interchangable.
If you want big OEM spikes, have your dealer order the spike set from MS362RCM.
This is what I did with my 400, and works great.
Really nice saw.
Good luck.

That's great, I was looking for confirmation on part # before I ordered something else that didn't work out! I appreciate it so much as well as @Parkerpusher and @Sierra_rider!

Now I can confidently go to the dealer and know I wil receive the correct parts. The error on the clutch cover I originally ordered was for the 440 which does fit but spikes do not. So hopefully I can put this to rest and enjoy this new saw to its potential 😁😁.

My sincere apologies to all for this agonizing long thread🙁

No need to be sorry for anything. It's fun to BS about saws and some good info was broadcast for people looking to do the same thing in the future.

If you decide to go the way of the OEM 362R/400 wrap kit dogs, they likely make for an acceptable bucking dog set. I didn't use them and wanted an aggressive set of dogs for falling. I went with the 4-point Pro Safeties for a 362 and couldn't be happier. I like the 3-point WCS dogs on my 500, but the Pro Safeties were in stock at my shop when I bought the saw.

I dig the 4 spike vs 3 on my WCS dogs, the 4 looks retro

We're kinda opposites in that regard...I actually like the look of the 3-points better, but functionality is about the same to me. The 3-points on my 500i make me tingly all over lol. I know the selling point on the 3-points is that the middle spike lines up with the kerf of the chain, but I still don't pay attention to that when falling with the 3 points.
