One of the 046 rescues saws I have used for firefighting has the comp relese which is handy when your wearing heavy gloves, as the handle easy slips out of you hand with the bulk of a heavy glove. I just think it would be a bit better if they made a bit more space in the plastic around the comp release, as it is hard to push it in with a heavy glove on.
As noted on the previous post, put the chain break on. I have noticed with the 066 that on occasion while using the comp release, if enough compression is raised during the first part of the pull, it can kick off the release without starting the saw and then near the end of the pull the next time the piston gets to TDC it can realy give a jerk! This pulls the rear up and pushes the bar down.
This would be VERY BAD if you were drop starting with the throtle jusk kicked 1 position off choke, and the chain break off. The saw could be pulled at full rpm right into your leg.
I use the comp release most of the time on the 066, but if the saws warm, a sharp fast yank gets it going. I dont like the way the comp release occasionally kicks off unexpectantly.
Don't think there is much point on the comp release for saw under 60CC or so, unless your using them for climbing ect.
Though if it puts less stress on the saw it might be worth while.
