Stihl MS440 MS460 Crankshaft Question

Hey guys it's Jughead from a few years back.I had to set up a new account seems my other one was hacked or something?anyway I was locked out or banned from here and the other board.
I've ran into a problem.i'm doing storm clean up with a 440 that belonged to a friend of mine who passed away in a Car Accident.his Dad came to me and asked if I would like to buy his saw.He sold it to me at a great price since my friend had used it for logging it was pretty rough and it needed some work.i've done a few things to it and got it to running great but it sheared the flywheel key in a cut here a while back.i installed a new key a week or so ago and sawed with it on and off with it for a few days.the other day I was going to install a key that I had filed to play around with the timing a little and found that the threads are buggered on the end of the crank.my question is.will the 460 crank work in the 440 as long as I use the 460 flywheel?

460 crank is different from the 440 on the clutch side. The 440 uses a bushing to ride inside the seal and in between the crank and the worm gear. A 46 crank uses a snap ring to hold the worm gear out away from the seal

The 460 crank is also wider than a 440 crank.

A quick Google search shows many options in New and used ms 440 or 044 crank shafts. They range in price from around $20 for clones to $50 for used OEM to over $100 for new OEM. YMMV
