Just noticed that Stihl now has on line pricing guides linked to thier dealers on the
internet, my local dealer has his site up, list prices only of course, but with a reminder
that certain items will reflect Stihl authorised promo pricing. The public should welcome this, very few know that a lot of Stihl home user products are competively priced with the box sellers, and for much better quality on most products. No, I am not associated with Stihl.Cheers

Good music hangs on to you like a wonderful lover.

I saw that yesterday.

One question though. When all the dealers have the same price, or one of two prices, (retail or special) everywhere you check, isn't that price fixing?

Nope. Price fixing requires collusion and intent between two or more parties.

These are just hosted sites - no different to a printed page.

no, listing MSRP is not price fixing.

But, If I was a stihl dealer, i'd be mad. the saws are higher priced than others and no sale prices will be listed, so anyone looking by price wont come into the shop where they could be sold, they'll go to the husky dealer. well, imo anyway.

Not really price fixing...

Back in those dark days when I was a Snap-on salesman... EVERYBODY walked off the truck with the newest catalog and price list. I never dared sell anything OVER msrp and I sold many a widget maybesome good bit less! (if I felt appreciated) When I felt squeezed, I'd adjust accordingly. Part of feeling out the customer is what it is... If the customer was an unusual pain in the ass... they had the MAC & Matco men they could rassle with  Made no care to me.
