I've used stihl presets on carlton chain before also. I've never tried oregon ones on stihl. I've never noticed a difference in the oregon presets from 72CL to 75 CK. They all worked on whatever. I'm sure if you go to the LP chain and stuff it may be different.

No problems. I learned about all the combinations the 'hard way' by scrounging chains of any brand/type and fixing them for others. If you only use 1 or 2 types of chain a lot of things are simpler.

For tie straps:
3610 660 6000 Picco mini
3997 660 6020 Picco
3629 660 6020 .325
3824 660 6020 3/8"
3812 660 6020 .404"

Remember that for .325, 3/8 and .404 Stihl uses the same tie straps for all driver thicknesses. Don't use Stihl tie straps to fix other brands of chain. If you have any more questions, the other chain parts such as drivers and cutters are available in the Bar and Chain catalog.
Just want to leave this 2024 comment for others. If you are spinning 3/8P, 0.043" gauge chain, the Stihl tie straps are thinner and the completed joint is MUCH thinner than if you use 3/8P, 0.050" tie straps. The .043 components are thinner.
