Hi,
I am still looking for a gear chain for an 1109 Stihl. The guys at Stihl USA came up with a part number. 9494-003-1500. Anybody have one of these laying around, used would be OK.

Hi,
As near as I can tell, it did look like the picture, maybe twenty years ago. All the writing is missing on the top cover. I would really like to put this classic Stihl back in working order. Any suggestions on people who might have old Stihl stock would be appreciated. I appreciate Sonny taking the time to look and respond. Thanks, Larry

It's Alive

Hey Guys,

Finally after several years of searching, this old Lightning lives again. The top cover does say Contra, Lightning, GS, with the old Stihl logo on the bottom. A friend, and fellow collector, from Germany hand delivered the roller chain to me on Sept. 14. He searched for and found it, in the Czech Republic. Thanks to everybody that took the time to look for the chain for this saw.

Since then I have acquired a direct drive Lightning with an aluminum cover, instead of the normal red plastic. Has anybody else seen this?

So many saws, so little time. Larry @ HOS

When I started to look for the chain here in Germany I had many show stoppers. I almost gave up when the most experienced and seniored Stihl engineer in the Waiblingen office did not even know that the 090 G was build with a chain drive. I found the chain at a distributor that also services motorcycle MRO business.

It was the biggest highlight in my short chain saw collector life (3 years) meating with Larry chainsaw-57. He and his wife are great people and his home made ice cream is the best I ever had.

Dozerdan you should at least leave the saw with Larry for some more years as a "permanent donation to House-o-saws"

I have to agree with you,Larry and his wife are some of the nicest people that you will ever find.
I also had the pleasure of eating some of Larry's homemade ice cream.Did you eat some of his super good vanilla?
I was only joking about the saw,it does belong to Larry. He is coming in for a visit on Sat.
